Suffolk puff garland by Mandy

Every year I decorate the Christmas tree with a different theme (usually based on colour). This year I'm going to try something a little different and do a hand-made Christmas theme. This is the first of the decorations I'll be making - a suffolk puff garland. This one has special meaning. The suffolk puffs I've used were all made by my aunt. After she died, Mum and I were given most of her quilting supplies and unfinished projects. Included in the stash were large numbers of finished puffs, which have been used for various projects over the years.

This is the third of my wall hangings in the African animals series by Monica & Alaura Designs. I purchased a kit with the fabrics for the elephant from Wacky Jacky's . The border fabric, which I think goes perfectly, was a fat quarter from my stash. I really enjoy making up these Monica & Alaura designs, but this will probably be my last - we've run out of wall to hang them on!

"Fire" wall hanging by Mandy

The 2019/2020 Australian bushfires devastated large areas of Australia and impacted rural communities, townships, and bushland alike. Millions of animals were killed, houses were destroyed and lives lost. Even though myself and the city in which I live was not affected by the fires, it still left an impact. I created this wall-hanging in tribute to those who battled the fires and those affected by them. The wall hanging consists of 2340 squares and half square triangles (cut at 1 1/4" with a finished size of 3/4"). I'm in the process of creating a pattern for this and will add it to the post when completed.
