Tea towel hangers by Mandy

I like to make presents for friends for Christmas. Christmas 2024 I made some practical gifts - some crocheted tea towel/hand towel holders. I used a pattern I found on YouTube - Crochet Towel Holder Tutorial by Craft Lacey. It looks trickier than it is. It was very quick and easy to crochet. I used a 70% cotton/30% polyester yarn. For the hoops I found some Koo brand wooden curtain rings from Spotlight. I simply unscrewed the hooks from them and they were fine to use.

Suffolk puff garland by Mandy

Every year I decorate the Christmas tree with a different theme (usually based on colour). This year I'm going to try something a little different and do a hand-made Christmas theme. This is the first of the decorations I'll be making - a suffolk puff garland. This one has special meaning. The suffolk puffs I've used were all made by my aunt. After she died, Mum and I were given most of her quilting supplies and unfinished projects. Included in the stash were large numbers of finished puffs, which have been used for various projects over the years.

This is the third of my wall hangings in the African animals series by Monica & Alaura Designs. I purchased a kit with the fabrics for the elephant from Wacky Jacky's . The border fabric, which I think goes perfectly, was a fat quarter from my stash. I really enjoy making up these Monica & Alaura designs, but this will probably be my last - we've run out of wall to hang them on!
