For another Christmas present idea, this time for Mandy (to give her a "sewing" themed placemat for the next time she joins me at Bribie for a quilting retreat, I again headed to Pinterest. This time I found one called Inside Out Placemats by Needlepointers.com. I didn't actually use the pattern online (it wasn't a free one) so I used the picture for inspiration and basically just winged it. I had used the inside out technique on Otto's quilt so had a bit of an idea on how to do it. My problem doing these placemats, was that I had to figure out how to do the little peeper borders (they turned out fine) and then I stuffed up by laying out the 3 layers incorrectly so when they were turned inside out, the wadding was on the outside.....uh oh....This was't discovered until after I had clipped the corners and attempted to turn it the right way round.....uh oh (again!).....So, a bit of cutting, an added inch or so to make a border and Take 2, it turned perfectly!
